That's right! At 8 o'clock this Saturday the doors will open to the Marriot Ballroom in San Diego. For what, you may ask? Well, it can be nothing but the Junior-Senior prom! As a senior gift my mom got me a new dress and my dad's paying for dinner at an expensive steakhouse called Rainwater. I'm so excited! I didn't go to prom last year, and this is the 1st year my school's not having the dance on a boat . No limo though. A nice one is a whopping 600$, so we're taking my date's mom's new E.B. Expedition
If anything interesting happens I'll post it like I usually do. Maybe some of you could post your prom dance experiences for me [ 05-08-2003, 06:09 PM: Message edited by: Lady Blue03 ]

We dont have proms over here. But I remember the 6th year leavers party we did have. Loads of hassle to convince the hotel to host it after the previous years antics, consequent lack of alchohol at the party, and the food poisoning that struck 90% plus of the 6th year population afterwards.
All in all, glad I didnt go. Although I did end up with two classes where it was just me and the teacher, since everyone else was either sick or off skiving.

Eh, I'm slightly unfamiliar with your school system. Is 6th year like your last year before college or sumthing? Bah, anyway, if theres one bad thing about prom, its definatley the price

Enjoy yourself. Why don't you just have the prom in that big honkin' Expedition.
Ah... prom days. Boy, to be geeky and young again. *sigh* Plus, can there be any garment in the world that comes off as easily as a good prom dress? |

I have a friend who went to Public School in England in the early 70's. His description was that you arrived in what was called First Form when you were 11, then each year after that advanced you a year until you were in Sixth Form and out, in his case to go to Sandhurst. Maybe that's what Andrewas is talking about. Oh, and my prom? It was held at the High School Gym and some local band played. Definitely not what the kids get up to now days.
