I don't like to force my ideas on to others, but if you really want some advice...
Multi class Half-elf Mage/Cleric Single class Half-Elf Mage Multi Class Half-Elf fighter/thief 1st Single class Human Fighter 2nd Single class Human fighter Single class Elf Ranger The cleric/mage gives you access to all the spells, while the mage allows you go get higher level mage spells eairler along than you would with another multiclassed character. The two fighters and the thief/fighter get into the thick of it while the ranger uses a bow or crossbow while standing back with the magic users who are casting usefull spells. |

Fave party would be
Human Paladin Half Elven Fighter/Cleric Human Mage Gnome Illusionist/Thief Human Druid Human Ranger As I have said before, though you need a thief there is no point in single class. Illusionist gives more spells. Paldin and fighter/cleric are the tanks and can heal themselves. Ranger gives missile support, druid and mage cast spells. The druid is probably the most undervalued character in the game. His spells are way better than the clerics, if only for static shock, and he can shapechange into an earth elemental at higher levels. Cool. ------------------ Supreme executive power comes from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony |

Single class half-elven fighter
Single class dwarvin fighter Single class human cleric Multiclass hafling fighter/thief Multiclass eleven fighter/mage (not a specialist, just a straight mage) Multiclass gnomish cleric/illustionist * 4 fighters, 2 clerics, 2 mages, 1 thief. That gnomish cleric/illust. combination is a great asset. Also, the single class cleric saved my collective butt many times as did the f/m. |

Whoa...
I made lots of parties..And I liked (and forgot! ) most of 'em ! But..Currently I have loads of fun with this "huge" party : 1) Human Paladin (he heals as much as he can with "lay on hands" and spells(though the wonderful healin' potions helps a lot more). 2) Human Fighter (later I'll dual him to a thief (maybe at level 13 or somethin'...). |

Just a note to anyone who thinks a Ranger is cool with bows or crossbows.
Rangers blow with the ranged weapons. well not really, but come on now; if you're GOING to make a Ranger, you might as well take advantage of the fact that they get an extra attack per round with no sheild equipped. So specialize them in longsword or mace and you get 2 1/2 attacks per round at First level. You smell what i'm cookin' here? Now I can see that Albromor shares my appreciation for multiclasses (anmd the cleric/illusionist!) But a Half-elvin fighter? Better yet is the Human fighter. At least they have the option to dual class later. The advantage of infravision for half-elves doesnlt add up if you have "group infravision" activated. Lastly, a Paladin and a Fighter? Heck, i guess it can be done. Need to stock those potion boxes with heals, haste (somewhat uncommon) and strength potions. Let a Bard tag along and they'll be backed up nicely. But I don't doubt that a Paladin may be able to go it all alone! (though a figter/cleric stands a better chance) you guys have probably heard my Fav party comp a million times Half-elf Cleric/Ranger (the ultimate fighting cleric) a Gnome cleric/illusionist (more spells per level; only necromancy and abjuration spells left out.. if you prefer, cleric/mages get them all) Human thief dual classed into a fighter after 8 or 9 Bard! fighter druids are cool too; but the best ones are dual classed so they fighter can master a weapon or two instead of just specializing in several. |
