True Seeing vs Detect Illusion

What are the differences between the True Seeing spell and the Thief ability Detect Illusion?

Do I need to bother to memorize a true seeing if I have a thief with 100% detect illusions?

I believe the detect illusions uses the thieving buttons, so in that case i'm assuming they deactivate when your thief attacks. So if you want your thief to fight, then True Sight.

On the other hand, enemy mages are only going to have so many invisibility spells memorized so a quick Detect Illusions whenever that happens could conceivably be done in between fighting. Depends how badly you want another Level 6 spell [img]smile.gif[/img] If you already have the thief, I wouldn't bother with True Sight unless you suddenly find that you have a need for it. You can always unmemorise it, so I would see which you prefer. Somebody pointed out on a different thread that DI isn't affected by SI

ivination....rather nifty

If you're quick on the uptake and don't mind putting your Thief right in front of a Wizard/buff him up, then no, you don't really need True Seeing. In Tactics, most higher level enemies use the Mislad and SI

ivination combination, in which case you'll be using your DI a lot more.
