This is any game in the series BTW.
I'd probably have the SOA and ToB maps like the original; you have to journey through LOADS of wilderness to get anywhere. This, IMHO, is where the sequels lacked.

I totally agree with you. The travelling was part of the charm and realism.

Revamp the Reputation system so that if you kill a Beggar in the woods, and nobody's there to hear it, it does NOT make a noise.
When you get Waylaid within Athkatla, 1D4 Amnish Guards will spawn and help you out. Change the Mace of Disruption+2 to look like the MoD+1.... Bring back all the good BG1 items that didn't make it into BG2 (Varscona longsword, Kiel's Buckler, Kiel's Helmet, Spider's Bane, Bala's Axe, Dagger of Venom, etc.) Allow Druids to wear things like Red Dragon Scale, Ankheg Plate, etc. Rewrite ToB so that it actually has a plot

Less hack 'n slash, more un-linear story, more alignment quests. Oh, and Commoner's houses, like in BG1, where I can go in and murder everyone.

realistic setting: like a beggar begging and beside im there is gold
they give too much experience points on "easy-to-solve" quest personally, after playing bg1, bg2 and TOB is very easy simply because the "challenge" of being a low and puny class trying to fight a bunch of gibberlings and kobolds is hard and makes the rewards sweeter. magical weapons is rare and not common that everyone has it my suggestions

Perhaps just one more Evil-aligned NPC in SoA? Then, with the addition of 'The Special Throne of Bhaal NPC', you can round out a successful party of 6. Or perhaps a variably-aligned Imoen, giving you the option of Good or Evil Imoens; and thus a Chaotic Evil thief or mage doesn't end up with a squeaky-clean Neutral Good sidekick of a sister. After all, she's your best friend, there MUST be some kindred spirit there...? That would reflect the parity of Minsc/Jahiera mirroring Edwin/Viconia, with Imoen able to adapt to either.
I kind of preferred the SoA and ToB maps to the BG1 maps. The games lasted more or less the same amount of time, but I was doing a lot more in SoA - and aimlessly wandering a lot more in BG. Aside from that... loading up the Improved Bad Guy and Ascension mods is a step in the right direction. Hoo boy! Tanc
