Wrinklies are mainly ex servicemen beyond the age of 55 the retirement age of servicemen we are called that by the serving members of the forces we consider it a compliment however in the U.S.A. where beauty is paramount it probally would not be.

Xen, kroma, moiraine,

You are correct; and I am sure the forum administrator will eventually move this thread to the general discussion; but....

Please give the guy a break: he just showed up. Rag on him maybe after he's got 50 posts under his belt, instead of 5 or 6.

Ken,

I'm ex-Navy. 55 is a bit more of a haul for me then 50. Ahhh..... I feel young again!

It is easy to see how "wrinkly" would be a term of endearment and respect when used by younger servicemen (and women) to desccribe their elders. But you are right: in the USA worship of youth and beauty is steadily replacing respect for age and wisdom. So wrinkly probably wouldn't go over as well, here. Also, in the Navy we called the ship's septic plumbing a passageway for "wrinkle fish." (I leave it up to you to imagine why.) And, though positive that is not what you meant, it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I first saw you use the term. LOL, I have adjusted my thinking.

What's a party,
without a song?
Bards ROCK!
Party On!!

Hehe, to be honest with you, I really couldnt care less about off topic threads... They only become a problem when everyone starts doing it.

In fact, seeing as this thread is already off topic, it can serve as a good place for me to ask you all a question, which is:
HOW THE #@!%$&* DO I GET THE IMAGE LINK IN MY SIGNITURE TO SHOW UP AS A PICTURE!?!

And yes, I have read the FAQ, and as you can see - I have tried myself!!

To make a picture in your sig, you don't need the url tag in brackets, you need the img tag in brackets.
