Just for fun, i decided that I'd take my level 5-6 party through HOF. Needless to say, I got completely owned. However, i did manage to slay 4 goblins (I'm so proud). took me about 20 minutes to do it, but with my rogue running around in circles and the rest of my party shooting missile weapons/spells, i managed to wear them down. The next group had 3 archers as well as 3 fighters, i was killed. Still, I recieved an obscene ammount of experience (3000) for each of the goblins i managed to kill. I am wondering, if i can survive for that long with a level 5-6 party, how hard could it be with a level 15+ party? Is it really that hard?

Don't forget that goblins are the weakest ennemies in the game.

True. Just out of interest, what things (apart from number of enemies, difficulty) change between normal and HOF modes? I seem to recall that someone mentioned items are changed/not there anymore ect...

Most named items get upgraded. Monsters get boosted, and that's about it.

Personally I don't see the point of HOF. Yes, you get better items, but by the time you get them all the game is over, so what's the point?

That would be different if there was an expension.

HOF is there mainly for those who want to reach the exalted 30th level, and don't mind having to slog to get there. The mode does have some nice items not available in normal play. It's a challenge thing, really. That's all.

But what's the point of geting to level 30 if you have nothing left to do after that?

What's the point of playing the game at all? To have fun of course.

Because it's there, Luvian. There are always people who look for a challenge. This is why some climb mountains In IWD2, the mountain is HOF mode, 30th level.

gobbies get a massive +100 hp (probably more for high level monsters),
minimum of 10hp damage done, and massive attack, save, and resistance bonuses.

One important thing in HOF is to SUMMON MONSTERS. The summonend creatures have similar bonuses to your enemies, giving you a a fighting chance.
