Well I would basically take off all of your equipment except for one piece, and cast some buffs to see if they ever fail. Keep trying that will all of your different pieces of equipment to weed out the problem. Something metal sounds likely to me, even though the manual doesn't say it should interfere unless you're casting an arcane spell - the manual isn't exactly the most complete/accurate one in the world.
