Ghoulies had a profound effect on me as a child. I was afraid to sit on the toilet without looking for years after seeing that.

Well being the old fart that I am. The scariest movie of all time up till it's time was easily the Exorcist. This movie had people terrified, the church tried to have it banned and some towns had it rated X. It had a MAJOR impact on the horror film genre. No movie before or since, that I can recall has had headlines and the impact that this one movie had.

There was also a movie in the 80's called "Prince of Darkness" which at the time had me having some pretty scary nightmares. Lucid dreaming helps with those if you don't like the outcome of one nightmare redo it and change the ending

As for books. I think the original "Omen" was one of the scariest books I have read.

Arachna-freakin-phobia!!!

That movie scared the bejeezus out of me!! Of course, since I *am* arachnaphobic...guess I shouldn't have watched it alone at 3 in the morning.

Neb is right about The Thing too. Great movie!!

Magik...YES. Prince of Darkness was truly creepy. A bit heavy on the goo/gore, but still, a good movie.

Wolfy...ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!

Welcome Sio.

It was a good movie Kurt Russel and John Carpenter did a couple of good movies for their times I love Carpenters sound tracks..they are always ....unique err Im assuming you mean the Carpenter remake of the original....the original was pretty cheesey.
