I have this really big paper to write for school,.. on superstrong fibers.
I'm writing the -future- chapter right now, but It needs to be a little larger.
Inspiration depleted however, so I am now shamelessly asking your help on completing my paper

I allready discussed:
-Nanotubes (funfunfun, Crash-proof microscope-tips, quantum-sieve, electrical conductor/semi-conductor/no-conductor, .. you name it and after a little chiral twist the nanotube can do it !!)

-Spidersweb ( Dunno english word ) Great stuff too, extremely tough.
A string of spidersweb with a diameter of a pen, could stop a boeing 747 in full flight.

..............

But that's it .. .anyone else know/read interesting (future )developments with SuperStrong Fibers ?

Thx for any replies, I'll include you in the -people to thank-

Hmm... I have some suggestions:

1. Kevlar
2. Silk - Yes, silk is one of the strongest fibers too.
3. Search "body armor" and take down the fibers used. Then search for these fibers.

I though that BP Vests only came in Kevlar...

Allready discussed Body Armor too, just not in the -future- section.
I think I'll work the superstrong umbrella thing out further, make it a super-umbrella that protects against any type of rain .. be it water or bullets raining down on you

IIRC, buckytubes (aka nanotubes, aka C60 tubular) are the only material yet known to be strong enough in tension to build the theoretical "space elevator". I dont recall if they are also strong enough to build the original "starbridge" concept, but I think they are.

Oh, I just remember someting. Check out the manufacurer of "Spectra Helmet". They have quite a number of hi-tech super strong fibers.
