I was told by some one that there was some kind of bridge between Icewinddale and BG, is their some kind of thing you need to do or is this just some lame rumour started by the weak minded?

lol it's a rumor. Although, you can (IIRC) import/export stuff beteen them, and also one of the merchants has Icewind Dale stuff (Joluv i believe...Deidre has PS:T stuff)

maybe your thinking about importing your player from icewindale to BG2 which is not possible (proven).
