MOH was ok.. but too FPS'ish for my taste. Up until I just blew threw Unreal2 (in a couple days) I had been pretty burnt out on FPS games (U2 was very good though).
If you are more into the military simulation aspect of games... then I strongly recommend Operation Flashpoint. It's not as pretty as MOH but a MUCH better game IMO. The squad and sniper missions are a cut above anything else I've seen when it comes to realistic play. I got bored and quit MOH most of the way through the game, I played the (much longer) Flashpoint campaign through multiple times. There are many ways to solve most missions, so each time through you'll have a different experience. |

Another really good game for multi or for solo is Deadly Dozen 2 Pacific Theater.

Ronn, you never got past snipertown in MOHAA ? You should really give it another try then, cause there's some good action ahead. Just advance very carefull and watch the rooftops. If you're not too sure about certain windows, just throw a grenade inside, that's what they're there for.

johnny, everytime I step around a corner in sniper town I get whacked...lol. I was going to change it to the easy setting and give it a try, but about that time I got a couple of new games and haven't gotten back to it yet. Heck, I'm still trying to get back to NWN. You are right about MoHAA being a very good game. The beach landing at Normandy was especially cool.

Yeah, those were great, the house to house fighting in the bocage too. But you should give it another try. You missed the ride in a German Konigstiger, and not to mention the assault on fort Schmerzen. Personally i think this is the greatest shooter of all times. The add on sucked btw, kinda buggy.

I'd heard complaints about the expansion being way too short for the price.
I'll have to get back to it soon.

That tank ride in MOH:AA doesn't do the Konigstiger justice... Purely as a matter of principle, I dislike Online games on certain pretexts. To me, BF1942 was just repackaging that concept, with quite a few stale and obviously superficial elements tied in, for example, the StG-44 is available on the Africa maps... The gameplay was essentially fun, getting past the superficiality was easy, and it worked in my favor.

IMHO Battlefield 1942 and MOHAA have really different purposes:
MOHAA focuses on infantry combat, and does an awesome job -both in single payer and in multiplayer-. In multi it's suited for teamwork(a good team is unbstoppable) and also for deathmatchers (a good player can win without a real team) BF1942 focuses on teamwork and joint forces: you cannot win alone, never - and you need to use all kinds of weapons effectively in order to succeed. That's the reason why in single player it sucks - bots are simply incapable of teamwork. In multplay however it can be an awesome experience if you find a good team. If you find only deathmatchers who jump in tanks only to get to the nearest hot spot, or peaople who use the planes only to parachute somewhere, it simply sucks.
