uninstall without losing characters

I just finished icewind dale, but I want to take a little break before I start heart of winter. If I uninstall icewind dale, will I lose my characters? If so, is there a way to save my characters elsewhere?

Easy as goblin pie,

Either

1) open your icewind folder, open mpsave, inside you will see folders clearly named whatever you called your saved games, copy the folder with the save you want to floppy or wherever, it is only half a meg or so.

2) go into the game and export your characters, this will write them to the icewind dale\character folder, copy each character to where you want (you may want to delete the current contents of characters first so you don't have to weed though all the pregen characters.

I do not know if it is the same with Icewind Dale, but when I got finished with Baldurs Gate, I uninstalled the game so I could load another game onto my hard drive. It uninstalled the game but left the save game files there. Icewind dale might do the same thing.

I just removed Icewind and the uninstall does not remove the saved games. I did back them up before removing it, though.
