horrifying ordeal just took place

I am still shaking.
My husband had thrown away some bond 527 Cement, unknown to me. My 3 year old somehow got it out of the trash can. I did not know it was almost empty, the last time I had seen it, it was full, when I got it away from my daughter, it was empty, and she said ate it

I have no phone here at the moment, and freaked out. I IM'd a friend in Little rock, she called the poison control, they said take her to the ER, She called my husband, his boss, and finnally got ahold of My husband, who then got ahold of his boss, who I had gotten ahold of through IM a few minutes later, by then she was screaming, but he looked up the info, and called the PC back, and found out we only had to give her milk, and watch her for about an hour, she is happily drinking the milk, no longer screaming...now that I have calmed down too, my husband told me(for the 1000th time) that me freaking out over things will get the kids upset. Mothers will worry [img]smile.gif[/img] safe to say, she is fine, and the trash will be locked in the Bathroom from now on

wow, stormystic. as a parent i sympathise and i'm glad to hear it turned out okay. whew!

oh... and as a husband, i can also relate to your husband's reaction.

yes it was scary, I am learning new things with the girls, tha ti missed with my son, for those who did not know, he had Cerebral Palsay, and he was not active until he was over 2, and then it was limited

Don't be hard on yourself. It's pretty hard to stay calm when your child has ingested a poison, the clock is ticking and real help is far away. I think that you did just fine.

Cement???! Yaiks!! I would be terrified if one of my kids would eat that!! Why they do it is a mystery to me.. it seems there's a special flavour to all the weird stuff according to kids.. [img]graemlins/1ponder.gif[/img]

Stormy, plug a phone into one of your phone jacks and you can call 911 as long as there has been phone service at your residence in the past(meaning that your house is wired). By law in the US, the phone companies cannot deny you access to emergency services just because you aren't paying them for phone service.

Now just because this service is availible doesn't mean you don't need phone service. With three small kids, a phone is as necessary as milk in the fridge, but unlike the milk, it can save lives. Poision control is a great resource, but when minutes count I would not trust an IM. In emergencies those folks need to speak with you directly, trust me, I know.

You wouldn't believe how hard (and ineffective) it is to give CPR or Heimlich Manuver instructions to a third party who is 50 miles away from the actual patient.

I'm certainly glad it all worked out, and that everyone is ok. It sounds like you did what you could in this situation, but please, call the phone company today for your kids. [img]smile.gif[/img]
