When I went to high school, you got suspended for fighting or drugs or whatever, not for cursing. We'd get detention instead if we cursed, and hell certainly isn't a curse.

i remember when i got a disciplinary slip for saying "pissed." Funny, cause i was simply repeating a story another teacher had told me. as far as hell, i dont see why this would be a curse, either.

Now that I think about it, "Hell" might be a profane word. A definition of profane means not sacred or unholy. And not much is unholier than Hell... So "Hell" is a profane word... but *NOT* a profanity.

Eh thats crazy at my school the worst you might get for saying profane words is ISS but that is very rare, most of the time the teachers ignore it or tell you to watch your mouth. I guess its all a matter of where you live.

Well I know this school (primary school even!) in this minging part of aberdeen, where kids of say 12 are allowed to smoke (pot an' all) and drink etc. right infront of teachers (I even saw this) and they dont even get told off!

I guess in the end this decision is up to the school, and if the parents don't want their children to be disiplined so harshley they could move them to a different school, but it is an exaduration and an overaction but that may be the basis of that school as in to be strict towards the students, still a bit too much.
