Thanks in advance.
I have read back posts about multiplayer problems but none seem to fully answer my problem. I installed Gamespy arcade, and the IWD v1.6 patch. All players are patched w/ the same version yet we are unable to connect to each others games. I can connect through my network to other computers in my network, but not to any remote boxes. Any ideas? Thanks, -Shi |

Shi Yong Hao,
Sorry, don't know about multiplayer, just wanted to say: . . . . WELCOME to the IWD forum!! . . . There is not a lot of IWD multiplayer expertise around, anywhere (as far as I can see); but, if there is a best bet to get a usable answer to your question, this forum is it. -------------------- What's a party, without a song? It sounds like your problem is a network one. Since you can connect to local computers with the game, the problem is most likely that the network has a firewall that is preventing you from connecting to remote computers.
I have a 4 port hub at home and have the same problem with several games. My fix is to plug my gaming computer directly into the cable modem when I want to play online; I don't know if that's an option for you. Part of the problem is that local networks assign IP numbers to each computer that are subaddresses of the IP that the network is actually at. You would need to talk to someone a lot more network savvy to find out how to get around this problem.

Actually that might just be the problem. When i launch the game in gamespy it says that my internal & external ip are different and that is may be from a firewall.... i figured i was from the ISP... i will try that tonight and get back to you.... SEEMS LIKE A POSSIBILITY... THANKS!
