Well if you're still under warranty it's free to mae sony repair it. They have a system of giving your broken one and you get another repaired one back. So you get someone else's but if it's not a problem.

My brother had a problem with it once and he got a good one back.

p.s. you could also take the date of the occurance into concideration.
Superstitious, are we?

Ross, PS2 isn't exactly the sturdiest game system around. It breaks easily, scratches CDs easily, and scratches DVDs easily.

Ok emailed them yesterday, this is what they said:
Dear Mr. Loggie,

Thank you for your correspondence. I am sorry to hear of the difficulties that
you have been experiencing with your PlayStation 2.

The issue you have with your console can be caused by a number of factors.

Please call the PlayStation Careline on 08705 99 88 77 (national rate) and quote
your reference number 1-1HRII. A member of our team will be happy to help you
further.

When calling, have ready your PlayStation 2’s Model Number (SCPH) and Serial
Number (begins with A, B, C, or K) found on the back left-hand side of the unit.

Our operating hours are between 8am – 10pm Monday to Friday, and 10am – 6pm
Saturday and Sunday.

Yours sincerely,

Robert Fisk
PlayStation Consumer Care Team
Sony Computer Entertainment UK

I think I will try the Cd Cleaner first (just need to wait till Tuesday to get it) then if it doesnt work I will phone the line, although I dont see why they couldn't have just answered in the email, I mean I cant really give them much more information.

Incase you don't know, they'll probably keep you on hold for a looooong time. They probably sent you an automated e-mail that only had one change (your name)

Yup, standard procedure.

They have you describe the problem and if your description hits some keywords in their database they will give you and auto-response that may or may not solve the issue. Or a response that tells you to contact them.
