Who is better? Edwin is seemingly flawless, except that he is one EVIL dude. Dynaheir, while lacking in charm/summoning type spells, is as good as it gets as far as alignment goes and makes for pleasant company with her stylish speech. Who do you guys pick?
Personally I think they are both great mages and their weaknesses can be covered up with the introduction of a secondary mage, Imoen, who can cast the spells the specialist mage cannot. If I had to pick I'd probably go with Edwin just to spice things up in an otherwise goodie two shoes party |

Erm... i wouldnt know about stylish speech ive got the translation (Dynaheirs speech makes you crack up its so AWFUL), but i generally avoid evil people because they leave when your reputations too high and a high rep REALLY has advantadges (Robe of neutral archmage for Xan for 10000 gold less than normally ). I often keep Imoen as she is but if you have Dynaheir and room for another party member, Xan is neutral, he can do charms but NO BIG MONSTER ATTACK SPELLS very annoying that. Anyway, Id pick Imoen. If you want to know what happens (worst case scenario) if your rep gets too high with evil characters in your group, read my thread "a scary story - is it possible?" or something like that its called.

I really liked Dynaheir as a mage and as an NPC. Good reputation is important for me because when you reach 20 things get real cheap! And Dynaheir doesn't leave unlike Edwin.

Definitely Edwin.. If I remember correctly, there are 2 Rings of Wizardry in the game. I've had Edwin have a grand total of 32 Level 1 spell slots. Pretty amazing.

Yeah I like dual Imoen to a mage. She's got a great intelligence stat and does great as a backup mage. She's good as a plain thief as well, so either way works fine.
