If so, where? The only thing I've seen is the game pauses when you press the "use" button.

its turn based, what do you need pause for?
magic also pauses, so you can click m, or o, or i, or anyother function that pauses. |

Back in the early days of IBM, it was decided that there needed to be a pause button. Often this button paused text as is scrolled accross the screen. But few programs could implement it well. As different type of programs came out there was better scrolling methods developed and this button became forgotten. As new machines were developed and better keyboards created, this button became almost like an extra button that didn't do anything. As more games were created, the space bar or Enter keys became pause buttons. Even the "p" key was used. Almost everything except the button marked "Pause."
Sir-Tech has built Wiz 8 to use the pause key as a pause function. (Really, what a concept!) But many people have forgotten that they even have a pause key. I mentioned this to one of my friends. (Yes, I do have friends [Okay, maybe just a co-worker, but it is close!]) His reaction was, "My keyboard doesn't have a pause button." I told him to take a closer look at the keyboard and he said, "I am looking at one now. Nope, no pause button." I then told him to look in the upper right side, above the Page Up button and next to the Scroll Lock and he said, "There IS a Pause button! I never saw it before. But I don't think it works." Anyway, I just wanted to ramble a little bit. Yes there is a pause button on your keyboard, and with Wiz 8, it does pause the game. It may be forgotten, but it does exist. If you are just walking around and want to pause the game just press the U key. I am pretty sure this is the correct key.
If you did not pause the game and came across some enemies they would not be able to kill you, but atleast when you use the pause key they cannot surprise you from behind. You would probably loose 1-2 effective fighting turns if they did. Regards Rustyboy |
