I'm currently using a bard in my party, and he has been recieving minor healing spells (cure light and moderate wounds) along with the normal mage spells. Is this supposed to happen? I have some parts of the EoU mod installed, but I don't think I installed something like this...

They do get them normally. Remember a bard should be an excellent second anything... from rogue to mage, going through healer and warrior.

Thanks! I guess I'm used to the BG2 bards, who just got wizard spells.

One of the reasons I want to give bards a shot in IWD2 is that in 3e, they were given their own (although underpowered IMO) spell list, making them a more unique choice.

Yeah, don't waste your feats in SF: Evocation, though. They get no evocation spells.

I think spellfocus on enchantment will take you a long way with bards.

first feat has to be lingering song though.

Absolutely correct, krunchy! SF and GSF in Enchantment is the absolutely best way to go for bards!!! And they aren't bad for sorcs as well, particularly if and when you intend to play HOF. Enchantment type spells are awesome in HOF.

Necromancy would help with a certain 8th level spell, if you advance your Bard that far.

Krunchy, well, to start off, Mass Dominate is uber-powerful, but IIRC, a bard probably won't have enough levels to get it until later in HOF.

Really, *any* spell with a Will-based save generally work well in HOF, since monsters do not have their Will saves enhanced like their Fort saves are. Even simple Charm and Dire Charm (and Dominate) spells have a very good chance of working in HOF when cast by a higher level caster.

It's also why spells like Greater Command and Symbol of Hopelessness (not Bard spells, I know) are so potent in HOF, since only a VERY few monsters will be able to resist their effects.
