1. use someone with high evasion skill, go into the room and get out. the enemy inside will follow you. you can kill them one by one.

or

2. use summon and tell them to kill the enemies.

BEfore anything else, summon your undead inside the room and then have a guy go inside and spring the trap. Then at least you have undead in there to kill of the goons.

I don't remember ever seeing a sorcerer in the underdark. Unless you are talking about the guy and his war-bears.

I dont remember either Luvian. But i may have missed out some part of the underdark. I gave the suggestion based on what i read. I mean, if the scenario given was that, i would summon some undead and have the guy in the room deal with whatever came at him with undead allies. It could be that the scenario given would be beyond the underdark.

Me neither? Or maybe he's talking about a certain part in the Mindflayer citadel? I merely asked the Elder Brain to let me pass and didn't really bother with fighting... Can't really recall any fights involving sorcerers in the Underdark.

Dartanian,
your description of WHERE you are having trouble is incredibly vague. Could you clarify a little? The name of the sorceror would help considerably or at least give us an idea of what henchmen he has with him.

I can only think of four possible places which vaguely fit your description -
(1) Malavon and his drow cronies (you could get locked in but no symbol), (2) The encounter with the Hosstower of the Arcane (but you don't get locked in), (3) The sorceror with the golems who you encounter right before the Viscamera (no symbol and you aren't locked in) or (4) Thorasskus (he is in Dragon's eye - but that does fit the description the best) and the djinn.
