either way, you CAN learn a lot here, simply by joining in the rare, but all the better for it, in-depth discussions. There are members from all over the globe (thought mostly from USA, UK, Aus and Netherlands + some other european countries) of all different ages and backgrounds.

Not so long ago, we had a pretty good discussion on life on other planets and speed of light, physics and possibilities of time-travel etc.

Heh, Malaysia here.

And thanks for the heads up! I'm glad I now know that soft drinks aren't going to make me grow up big and strong!

I don't drink 'em anyway

Try this - put coin into a glass of coke and leave it sitting for a week or two. Then take the coin out. You'll be surprised.

The coke tastes really awful?
There is no coin?
The coke is less bone-melting than it was at the start?

*Sighs* The stories about colas being bad for your bones have been arond for years, as are the tales of what happens to meat suspended in Coke. I have been a practicing physician for thirty years and I have NEVER seen a fracture attributable to diet. Age-onset osteoporosis is resistant to calcium intake, unless taken with a medication such as Fosomax. As for the acid in colas, your stomach content is much, much more acid than Coke. Your body gets rid of it with alkaline pancreatic secretion. Acid + alkaline = salt + water. Get a grip. I am over 50, have drunk colas all my life, and have never had a problem with my bones.

Yeah yeah...the coin is all clean and shiny, right ? Well, if Coke cleans coins, it probably cleans the inside of your colons too, so in a way Coke is healthy and revitalising. I should become a doctor.

Oh friggin hell, honestly. You would have to suck down soft drinks by the gallons for it to cripple your bones entirely. When I was but wee, I drank 3 two-liters everyday, and I still have an iron stomach. Granted I drink much less this day because the taste is gone to me, but don't take it that far, really.

Still waiting to go sterile from Mountain Dew or have nerve damage from drinking Diet
