The blood vessel that broke is in a thin protective membrane surrounding the white on the exposed part of the eye. That membrane can swell if irritated and bleed if injured. I had the swelling myself a year back. If you break a blood vessel and the bleeding is contained beneath the membrane, you will get "red eye". It's usually from blunt trauma to the eye and it takes a long time to go away. Considering you are under a physicians care and on medication, I think a call to the office would be in order.

Another issue to consider is that of the blood lying in your eye - normally the body will re-adsorb it's own; stagnancy is never an issue. With that *amn rat poison you take, the issue is unclear....a phone call should do it, your doc knows the rest anyway. as to possible causes...my guess would be a cough or sneeze somewhere during the night, as any sort of blunt trauma would also leave other bruising behind.

check out the ginko, don't forget the dried leech extract - or else!

VISIT YOUR DOCTOR (Sorry for shouting) But I need to emphasize problems with eyes mean visits to your Doctor. Because the next time we see you you might be using a white cane otherwise.

Well it is better. I can see more white of my eye. I haven't called the doctor yet because it doesn't hurt and my vision is unaffected. HOWEVER, (Attalus) next week is my usual time to have my blood checked. It may have gotten a little too thin (it does sometimes). Though I have been bruising ALOT and the last time I got it checked it was a little low INR 1.7 (it is supposed to be between 3 and 4!).

And yes, JJ, I still take my rat poison every day like a good girl. The option to not take it (blood clots and death) is not appealing.

Sadly, the "I bruise easily if anyone even brushes up against me" factor led to my sweety being a bit bruised after her visit, and the numerous times we ... er ... brushed up against each other
