quote: 13...You can also fracture your nose from sneezing too hard. I know this not from personal experience, but from knowing a woman it happened to so ladies take your calcium supplements!!! Successive sneezing can also rupture blood vessels in your head (or neck) that will kill you. I witnessed the death of my cousin Rebecca from that very cause. 23...Now that I just did not need to know...I'll never sleep again! |

I have some more of these, they are on posters above the toilets in the Student Union bar. I hope I remember them correctly:
1. One mile in every five of interstate highway in the USA has to be perfectly straight. This is so planes can land on it in times of war. 2. Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones were Freshman roommates at college (apparently). 3. In the First World War one in three men betweet 17 and 30, in France, were killed. 1 in 3! Dear god... 4. In the Cuban War of Independance 30% of the population of Cuba was killed. 5. When young men in Britain attempted to enlist for the Boer War in 1901 1 in 3 had to be turned away for medical reasons. Anyway, thats all I can remember. I will try and find the rest for you sometime.

I think People say "Bless You" when you sneeze as a throw back to the Plague. Sneezing was the first sign/symptom of the plague so people said "bless you" in the hope that it was just a sneeze & nothing else or because you had the plague & were about to die soon. This is what the nursery ryhme "Ring-a-ring-a-rosy" is all about. |
