Ames is done for. Kaputz. No more Ames. Oh well, at least now there is a 10% discount on everything! I wonder what will replace the ames in my town. God only knows..... It's weird, there is only a 10% off discount but everyone is rushing to ames like it was Christmas! Poor ames. Ames made a lot of bad mistakes, so ames went bankrupt.

Bummer and I just got a TON of junk mail from them...Im sorry to hear they are going under...on the other hand it will cut my junk mail by about a third. I wonder if they ever looked at cutting back on mass mailings and relied more on other means of advertising?

I don't get much junk e-mail from them... just a lot of junk real mail.
It is strange, they advertised that their prices were all 30-50% off, but most everything is only 10% off!

Yep, the one down the road from me closed last year and guess what?

Now a new Walmart and a new Target are within blocks of Ames old spot.
Well the strong do survive.

Within the last few years, we have lost Harry's (local to Barre, Vermont), Zayre's (bought by Ames), Woolworth's, Newbury's, Rich's, and now Ames.

All that is left is Walmart and I don't care too much for them. I've known several people who've worked there and Walmart doesn't treat the employees that well. My brother and his co-workers were forced to do a Walmart Cheer in the K-Mart parking lot when they first opened nearby. That's just too sick!
