The windows built in disk clean up tool will remove your .tmp files, your internet cache and your temporary downloads (if you for instance choose open file from location instead of save to disk). Several installation programs such as windows installer unpacks the needed setup files and puts them in the folder Ronn mentioned. However it doesn't remove them. Be careful with that folder though, not all files are as temporary as they may seem.
