Saw this on the news earlier. Seems like the regular, pure Henna, temporary tattoos are ok, lasts a few weeks, kinda slowly fades away, not a permanent tattoo.

This news program profiled many temporary tattoo shops, and apparently the natural henna color, which is mostly a redish/brownish color, was not enough, black was wanted, as it is darker and stands out more. So these Henna shops decided to mix in hair dye into the henna mix, and came up with "Black Henna" to make a darker temporary tattoo. But this dye is toxic, causes allergic reactions, and can effectively poison you for the rest of your life. In other words, DON'T GET A BLACK HENNA TEMPORARY TATTOO! Trust me the pictures of the toxicized blisters from many who got them is enough, barf!

You know that trip that I've been on this past week? Well, two friends of mine got a black henna tattoos... Atleast they look black. Nothing seems to be going on with them yet so they could be okay. I'm not sure. Sure glad I didn't get one.

Here's a tip. Instead of resorting to black henna, you can add lime juice or lemon juice to the henna paste before application. This will leave a deeper and darker shade of colour on the skin.
