Suzaku, it's a shame you don't have a good internet connection. You'll find more and more games that can't be fully appreciated without access to the web. This, like the graphics issue, is a case of not having a high end computer on your end. To knock the game for this reason is kind of silly.

Uh-uh-uh I have a plenty good computer, a Pentium4. Maybe not the newest year model, but plays the game perfectly fine. I'm just saying games should not be focused too much on the SP or the MP, and it seems like NWN is counting on the MP to make up for its sagging SP.

I would like to play any of my MP games online (StarCraft for example), and I'm not ditching NWN only because of no connection. Read my post on the first page.

When I read the early praise for the game I thought there was something wrong with me... I just couldn't get into it.

The longest I've been able to play is maybe 90 minutes before I got distracted by something... rearranging my sock drawer, or watching the grass grow.

When I got Morrowind I played the first day for maybe 8 hours... and finished the game in a week or so. If they had MP I might rank it up there with my all time favorites.

I've got HUNDREDS of hours into Diablo II (L84 Paladin), simple yes but fun to play with a gang, beers, tunes, etc...

Played BG2/TOB to completion and enjoyed the heck out of it (GREAT rpg)

Hell I even played Dungeon Siege to completion... too bad MP sucked for that game, it had promise.

I've had NWN since June, and I just got into chapter two... I play it so infrequently that it takes me a while once I start up the game just to remember what I was doing last time. I've contemplated cheating just to get through the darn thing... because otherwise I'll probably never finish it.

Oh well... pay your money, take your chance. These days I'm playing Mafia, a GREAT (albeit a bit gory) game, and Operation Flashpoint:Resistance... another great title. Even Warcraft III (really just WII with eye candy) has captured more of my gaming time than NWN... while I bide my time waiting for Doom III.

umm, is it possible to play modules in 1player? because if it is, all this griping about the built in campain is kinda pointless methinks. just play modules made by people who know what they are doing, the game will surely improve in time as bioware gets more experience with the engine. i am currently wondering wether or not to buy it, and decided i would read this to see if nwn was really good (to counter any brainwashing i may have given myself when i saw that their was actually a DM!!!!!and an editor!!!! and 3rd ed rules!!! ill shut up now!!!!) and now i am quite sure i will still get it. and i will likely only play the built in campain to get used to the engine. and now i venture to bed!

YEs you can download modules, you can do your own, you can change alot of things in the game and the way you play it.

I can unserstand people not liking the single player campaign if they suspected another Baldurs Gate, but they have stated for three years it is not another Baldurs Gate, and that it is not a party based game.

I like the game even the flaws and the things I don´t like about it. Save your character, download some of the modules and play them. They are actually quite good, and some are of course not so good.

I think the problem with it is it was hyped to much, the websites and magiznes said it was going to be awsome, one of the best RPGs ever, blah blah blah. So people wear thinking it was going to be another BG.

It didnt come withing 10 billion miles of BG. It might have been OK if it wasnt hyped so much. Expectations can really change things.

If they would have said what the game actaully was, it would have been beter. If they said, revolutionary they said! About as revolutionary as Mario:Sunshine I say..

It was way too point and click oriented. There needed be more action. No, not just action, there is that in the game...Entertaining action I should say.

I didnt like the game much, as you could tell, MP might have been pretty good, but I have to crappy of a connection for it to be enjoyable.

It didnt really feel Like DnD to me. It felt like just another RPG where you create a hero and go chop up monsters. The fighting systyem was horrible. Click once, you didnt even have to do anything from there on in the battle I literally got up and went to get something to eat during a battle, came back, didnt miss a darn thing.

So, the point of my post is it was too hyped. They shouldnt have said it was going to be revolutionary. They shouldnt have said it was going to be a great story.

Oh another thing. The price!! Sheesh, I spent 55 bucks for this? I guess thats part of the hype though.

Meh, the game really pissed me off.

Over on the Bioware sites, there's talk that Bioware is making a second campaign for NWN. I haven't read the official releases, but it should add a lot of value to the game, and may be something for the people who look for a really deep story.

After reading all this, I haven't decided not to buy this game yet. From what i've been hearing NWN isn't about the single player campaign. It doesn't sound like it was to begin with. With the toolset you can make the game what you want it to be. (Of course you're probably going to need a little programming knowledge) To me that sounds pretty cool, and as long as there are a few people making good mods, the game shouldn't get old.

BTW Iron_Ranger I don't think Mario Sunshine could've been revolutionary unless they completely changed it from Mario 64. And no one wants *that* now do they?

In another post I did state that BG2 was the greatest game I ever played....as far as scope goes.

To be really honest, someone just reminded me of something.

Planescape: Torment actually takes the cake. This I say because that game made me REALLY feel that I WAS the character. I identified with him, cared for him and was genuinely interested in what happened to him and what was to come next. True, there was not so much freedom in it as far as character generation and such is concerned, but I would have to agree with someone in another post here.

There is so much to say for scripted stories. PT was linear? Yes! Was it boring? NO! Is there any point in longing for another story like implemented in PT? Probably not, because it was released some time ago and I do not see ANYTHING like it anywhere so that must mean that too few people liked it as much as I did. If Multiplayer is the way to go then I am in deep trouble. To be sure, I care NOTHING for playing RPGs that way. All I am interested in is story. I truly believe that bad graphics and poor control can be saved by a half decent storyline. When the story is awe-inspiring like with PT then my world is rocked for a little while.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I hope prospective mod creators think about this. Forget about lack of customization in the toolset as far as graphical ability goes. WRITE STORIES! It is a fairly simple concept, but very difficult to do.

Now let me ask you all this, would you like a good multiplayer evironment to play with or rather a fantastic, engrossing single player one?

I am willing to pay money that MOST players would rather have a stunning single-player campaign.

*sigh*....why am I harping on about this?

Can anyone tell me if there are any GOOD STORY driven single-player mods for NWN?

If so, I'll start downloading immediately...just tell me where!!
