God, why do I bother messing with my computer? It's so frustrating. One big benefit of console games is you just put the damned thing in and play it. Is that such a hard concept?

Anyway, I have an external drive where I put a lot of games -- incl. PS-T. It has always been recognized as F:

Okay, well, I take my laptop loose from it and do some work at home. (In doing so, I put in one of those USB storage devices which was temporarily recognized as F: -- but I have done that before.) Now, for some reason, my laptop recognizes the external drive (when I hook it back up) as drive G:

Why? This is so frustrating -- PS-T no longer works. Norton WinFixes recognizes the registry entry for PS-T and wants to delete it. Frik.

Okay, so how can I force my computer to see this drive as drive F again??? I'd rather not uninstall/reinstall everything.

Well, I would look under your installed components and drivers section and delete the usb device.

How would that help? Would that delete the port or the external drive? I will say that unplugging the USB drive and plugging it back in does not help.

Isn't it possible to set the drive letter of your CD and USB device? I know I can change my drive letters around for my CD drives, just don't remember exactly how (I'm at work right now).
Probably via the 'properties' or 'system' in the control panel.

What OS are you using?

I'm using XP. This would seem like the right thing -- assign a new letter. But, how to do that? Maybe it's an idea containing too much common sense and is not an option.

Timber in XP you have control over where drives are assigned:

Open the Control Panel
Open "Administrative Tools"
Open "Computer Management"
Select "Disk Management" from the Tree View
It should show your external drive in the right window if it's connected, Right Click on the Drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Path"
Select your old drive letter

Thoran, thank you so much. Now... to check and see if I accidently let Norton delete any invalid registry edits.

But, seriously, thank you anyway. You are THE man. Not A man or SOME man, mind you, but THE man.

Thanks.
