Is he a specialist mage and cant learn that sphere of spell? I just had that in IWD2, took me a minute to figure out why I couldnt copy it. And you're safe from flames here! Dummy. Joking!

Hi, I may be wrong on this, as I'm fairly new myself. I *think* if you're playing a socerer, one of those from the pre-set parties (don't remember which one), you can't select spells to memorize. You'll automatically get spells. In the end, I just deleted that character and started another wizard, which you can select spells to memorize from.

Blue Valkyrie is right, if you have a sorcerer you can't scribe scrolls into your spellbook, you pick them when you level up. If, however, you do have a Necromancer, then there seems to be some if you can't learn ANY spells. Have you tried checking the schools the spells you're trying to learn to see if they are opposition? Or perhaps a different level on your spellbook screen.

nope, not pre-made, this is a diy-generated necro-wizard, with enough spellcraft and intelligence to get a FEW spells going

ho !! i just found out i can copy 1 school of spells to my book.. hmmm, think this character generation is beyond me :0

anyway, gonna try a bit further, thanx for putting me on the right track and not scorching/incinerating/bulldozing/pulverizing etc.

Ok I have a necromancer also. I regret it but oh well I'm going with it. Necromancers cannot use spells from the illusion or transmutation skill. I knew I shouldnt have specialized but wanted to experiment. We'll see how it goes! Good luck Ice!

A sorc. can read a scroll and memorize it but can't cast it till he's that level, same as spell he learned.Yet it kinda sucks I couldn't figure out why mine couldn't cast them or scribe them either. It also seems to take him forever to get leveled up enough to use them. Also he needs a high int, score to be able to cast higher level spells..So far I like this game but boy is there a lot of reloading, and hit and run fighting!!One fight after another.

I agree with John. Seems like I have become a Monty Python movie. RUN AWAY RUN AWAY! (Wonder if it's just the party in general)
