Personally, I would prefer an extended golden-goal scenario. That is, if the scores are tied after 90 minutes, golden goal should go on until a goal is scored. It may take a while, but eventually one team will crack.

Penalities are so nerve racking, not only when you're taking one, but when you're watching one.

Am i the only one who like soccer for the game it is(check out my occupation)? Oh well, yes i agree, penalties do make it more interesting. Hm...i hate games that go into golden goal and PKs...i hate the harshness of handling inside the box...i got yellow carded for accidentally swiping the ball in the far corner of the box. But other than that, as the french would say, "Joue au foot!"

This just reminds me soooo much of Father Ted... The quote from Dougal:

"I'm no good at judging crowds Ted, but I'd say theres about 17 million of them out there!"

I think penalties are good for the game, when they happen during regular time, penalties that happen in the Cups (world, FA etc) are part of these great championships and would not be the same with out them. Who can forget the great shoot out between Ireland and Spain a few world cups back, Great stuff!!

Unfortunality the refs here in England have gone penalty crazy and we can't seem to go a game with out one it two...I think the refs have let the power of a red card go to their heads!

I don't mind penalities, I just find that they are give away far too cheaply; players dive and really make a meal out of legal tackle. Often it is clear in the replay that it's not a penalty, but as the referee may not have a clear view of the incidence, he gives it anyway.

They did talk about using instant replay a few years ago but ultimately, they let the idea drop.
