I have recently finished a solo quest and have a character that rocks. But in developing him I found out a few things that may help others as they develope the super character.

My first suprise was when I reached the 100th level mark and had trouble hitting people. This was a great surprise to me. I had a +127 to hit and I was a 102nd level Zen and I couldn't hit! As I went up in levels my hitting improved again. I believe (but can't prove) that the systems that determines some stats cannot handle levels over 100 and so level 125 is treated like 25. I know that computers do not use base ten and it shouldn't work that way, but it does seem to.

I also found that the items I found were of lesser values. I was very surprised when in Skull Castle, I found a silver ring. (This too was right after I moved past the 100 level mark.) The Centuars stopped carrying +2 and +3 armor as well.

When I finally got my character up to 192 nd level, I was again enjoying the "never miss" function that I enjoyed at level 97 and I was again finding some cool and powerful stuff. (I found my Wakizashi +2 from a Centaur.)

I do not know if this is a coincidence or if it really does see level 110 the same as level 10. But if you are on level 75 and do not want to go for level 200, it might be a bad idea to wipe out Oakenmire just to get the exp. You will end up worse off than if you had left him alone.

On another note, Wyvern might be happy to hear that there may have been plans to punish you for breaking your oath. I was looking through the sound bites and found 3 of them in a seporate folder. Nivious is lamenting that the Mavin Sword has consumed the champion and that they will have to seek out a new "Chosen One" to fufill the prophecy. I would like to believe that there were plans and that because of rushing it was left out rather than there were no plans.

*nod* I discovered those files a while back. They're in the very last folder in the sounds directory. Again, Activision rushed the production, I'm sure of it, otherwise it would have been in there. So sad!

Examine some of the other folders. There are obviously a LOT of things that were left out.

What a fascinating thing about the Level 100 thing! Thanks for sharing that. Apparently it "wraps around." I remember something similar happening in Betrayal at Krondor, when the game gave you the "great sword"--the Guarda Revanche or something like that, it was so powerful that the stats wrapped around and were actually hitting for NEGATIVE points (i.e., "healing" the opponents!) The bug was fixed eventually (resulting in a less powerful sword, unfortunately), but it just goes to prove that one can have too much of a good thing after all!

Knarfling - great insights/observations!! Especially for players doing replays with solo or high level characters!!

(Now all I have to do is get everyone to send me a copy of their game and figure out how to hack it to make it enforce the OATH!!! LOL!!!!! I don't mind some of the others aspects of the game that obviously got dropped in the rush to market, but not enforcing the oath and rewarding players for offing the nice NPCs really bothers me! )
