Good evening to ye all on this board. Haven´t visited here before because I got IWD only recently, and Im simply asking what do you think about my party:
Human female paladin Human female ranger (dualling into something, when I make up what) Human male fighter Halfling female thief Elven female Mage Half-elf male Cleric/Mage How long is the journey compared to say, BG? [ 01-25-2003, 04:15 PM: Message edited by: NiceWorg ]

Good of you to join in NiceWorg. The more the merrier.
Like any new game, don't worry about the party too much at the beginning. You'll get a feel for it as you go along. IWD on its own isn't too long; it increases some with Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster added on. BG is definitely bigger I'd say, but this game isn't like BG so it depends on your point of view rather than geography. I would point out that with IWD Druids and Bards rock (Bards in particular with HoW installed). Try them in this game if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed. Try dualling the Ranger to a Druid later on. You'll see. Other than that, a fairly solid party. Neither good or bad. As long as you like playing them that's all that matters.

sounds pretty good, thought i would make the cleric/mage just a cleric. faster leveling that way and since u allready have a mage, your covered. If decide not to dual class i would give yourself a druid instead of paladin, but if you are going to dualclass do like Lord Brass said and make it a ranger druid. good luck, and happy hunting!

And, I might add, the two males in your party will probably be very happy campers, given the male/female ratio.

As far as the party it looks decent. I have the same view as Lord Brass on Druids and bards for this game. I usually have a bard with parties of 5 or 6, they still take some getting used to as they are for singing, so not having one the first time through is probaly for the best, as you are probaly not going to be thinking of the song he shouldplay next to help the party. Druids are awsome and have saved my hide a number of times in the game. So the Ranger/Druid combo would be the way to go. [ 01-26-2003, 11:13 AM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |

Doh! Seraph's right pritchke. I'd forgotten about that. (Fool.) I've fiddled with Dalekeeper so much, I gloss over nonsense rules like that. Cleric is the only legitimate dual from a ranger. Unless of course you have him "downgraded" to a simple fighter first.
Forget about it NiceWorg, at least until you've got a better handle for the game. Then you'll never travel without a druid, bard or maybe even a fighter/cleric again. Not being able to dual to a druid is something my dwarven ranger may not like to hear!

My party on IWD is usually pretty bland...
Half elf fighter dwarf fighter half elf cleric halfling (or elf) theif half elf wizard usually another fighter, sometimes a bard I still made it through the game. [ 01-26-2003, 07:38 PM: Message edited by: LS0158 ] |

My large group generally contians the following four guys:
A Paladin A Fighter A Mage/Thief (I dont feel the need for a pure class Thief) A Druid or Fighter/Druid I then usually add on characters to this that differ by game. It generally comes out to be one is some sort of fighter (F, F/C, R/C etc) and one is some sort of magic slinger (C, M, B, C/M). Ofcorse sometimes those slots are empty. This group has all the things that a sucessful IWD party needs. Tanks, a Druid, and a Thief. Lord Brass is right Druids and Bards are great. I would personally say that the Druid is more powerful, but I've been devolping a tendency to play smaller (3 or 4) person parties, and the Bard's skills are better for large party, so my opinion may be skewed a little. |
