Computer crashed at the Stout Mines and I'm starting over with TWO
wizards. Does it work to choose "difficult" and "frequent spawning"
to toughen my gang up, then switch settings to easy for battles with
the Naga, Elyssia and the $%#&**& mantraps? Dread those confrontations!

Pretty much I always "dance with the one I brung" (that's a Texasism for sure!). That is to say, starting out with "frequent spawn" and "hard", I tend to stay that way throughout the game. With only two characters, you should go up in levels and skills fairly quickly, so the heavy-duty encounters shouldn't be too hard.

What exactly happened at the Mines? That's a long way to have to start all over again. If it's something that happened to a file, Wyvern may be able to get your old party through the bad part. Or if it's technical, someone on the forum may be able to help. Let us know.

Thanks, Saz! The crash was completely unrelated to the game, but I
appreciate your offer to help. I have two wizards in addition to
two warriors, one rogue, and one priest. The more the merrier!

This is just my opinion, but if you have two wizards, have one concentrate on stone magic. At least until the stone magic guy gets meteorstorm. One spell that the Naga is not immune to is meteorstorm and it is wonderful to have it. The last couple of games I did not loose one hit point in fighting the Naga and it was great to have when trouncing Elyssia and her goons.
