While working on Sunday I was listening to Radio 1. As per usual on Sunday's, the British chart came on (Im not a fan of pop, it was just on) and before it got to number one, the presenter (not sure who it was) kept saying, "Remember, the Uk will know who is number 1 before any other country."
Dont you just think that is stupid? I mean if America knew who was British number one I would be quite alarmed.

It is silly. I think it's one of those catch phrases that radio people hope no one actually thinks about. I mean, of course the UK will know first who's #1 on the charts in their country. They pick who it is... and nobody cares enough to steal *that* state secret.

Reminds me of when the woman on the news talking about the england team just before the line-up for euro 2004 was announced.
'We're not expecting any surprises' Well... Surely if she was expecting a surprise.. It wouldnt be a surprise, would it?

And then there's my all-time England team commentator favourite: "and Seaman's on everyone's lips this morning... "

Or like at the train station: 'Please Do not stand in front of the yellow line, or you may be sucked off' (God bless Peter Kay)
