So my Cleric/mage, Ivellios just took out the unseeing eye. Super easyly aswell What i did, was summon fodder to waste him death spells. Then i Skull Trapped him, twice, which got his attention, by casting one close to me, and one close to him, he floated onto one of them, then after me he floated onto the second. I then hit him with a cone of cold, and a fireball. He was badly injured now, and my Chromatic orbs, magic missles, melfs arrows and meteors couldn't hurt him. Then i remembered something i picked up just a little earlyer, morphed into a troll, and charged him. He never actually managed to him me back, and i bashed his...eye...in with my hefting great claws. 4 swings later, 30000 xp and a lame amulet.

You do know that there's a certain object that makes killing him quite easy don't you.

You can't really miss it can you?

Your not taking the no cheese thing to the extreme are you? It is a specific quest item!
Do you get more XP for killing him yourself?

You can smuggle out the rift device. Use Project Image and/or Simulacrum to not use it up.

Infact, the game forces it upon you. Literally. The Unseeing Eye spawns when you put the complete rift device in a quickslot.

You probably get more EXP from using the item, due to the other quest associated with the item.

The first time I went ahead and put the rift device together, but ever since I haven't bothered. It just seemed like a lot of trouble what with the undead town and then all the shadows and eyeballs. Much easier to just take the unseeing eye out. Of course you do miss out on some nice equipment, but is 18 dex really worth all that extra trouble?

Trouble = EXP.

True, the Unseeing Eye is actually easier to take out than some of the fights you have to go through to get to him: Given the choice between fighting 3 Gauths simultaneously or the Unseeing Eye, I'd take the Eye.

The Unseeing Eye is spawned by your picking up the 2nd half of the Rod, not by having the completed Rift Device in your quickslot.

Now that I have Tactics installed, I find it actually makes sense to kill the Unseeing Eye by hand, and use the Rift Device on that $^@*ing Lich in the Undead Town. Now if only I could kill the Pit Fiend before it slaughters all the Mummies and wastes all that precious EXP!
