Sure, it will work like that, no way is the holy avenger sword necessary. There are lots of other good ones that come to mind, some even better than the holy avenger (though it's HoF incarnation cannot be beat).

Hi, it's me Variol at my parents place in Ottawa. Do I have to pick the skill for short sword when I lvl up? I find under my char info it gives +'s and -"s for my weapon skills? The -2 is the on that has me confused for proficiancy.

Well, if you are using a weapon and you can take the feat, take the feat. The -2 is maybe because of a dualwielding penalty? I dunno, could be a number of reasons.

Ok, I took the short sword one and it hepled a fair bit. This is actually a good 3sum. I'm lvl 2Rang and lvl 5 Sorc. Is there a place I can rest to get attacted to build a lvl or 2 to make things a bit easier?

There is no good place to camp for xp, if you are looking for something like the cold wights from IWD1. However, you really should be able to handle anything with the xp that you have accumulated by just following the storyline.

Yeah, I seem to be doing ok there. With 3 it should be twice as fast to lvl up. Right now I'm Rang 2 and Sorc 8.

I'm just in the Ice Castle doing my thing, but I'm not getting any exp for killing stuff. I just finished killing a room full of Ice Trolls and got no exp for it. Anybody know what's going on?

Yes. You're too high level. That is the only thing I hate in this game, the rule that if you're above a certain level, you get no XP for killing some things. Install Ease of Use, it contains a mod that always gives 50% exp minimum.
Anyways, I just don't get it. Why do you get no XP? I mean, the reason a goblin is worth 40 exp and you need 10k for level eleven is enough to discourage sitting around and killing goblins, why add this stupid thing? If you were to need a thousand exp for each level and every monster in the game gave an equal amount, then this would have a purpose, but this is a joke, and a bad one at that.
