Hey everyone. I was thinking about being a monk my second time around through BGII for the heck of it, and I was wondering, to use keldorn's sword and armor, do you just need to be better than him statistically in every category WIsdom, strenght, etc., or do you need to be aligned as good also. I was thinking of being lawful neutral, or possibly even evil.
Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure.. Although, I think you can only use his armor. An evil Monk? That is like an intelligent Barbarian.. Just try it, make a Monk, warp to the area via CLUAConsole, and try. If not, then you'll know.

What do you mean by Keldorn's sword? His family sword that he starts with, or Carsomyr? In any case you can use neither, the first one can only be used by Keldorn the second only by a Paladin.

Why do you want t use a sword anyway? The whole point of being a monk is that you fight with your hands.

MY buddy is running a monk, around level 13, and he's freaking awesome in combat. His openhand attack is so ridiculous that he never uses a weapon anymore. Hell, he almost doesn't use his NPC's anymore- they're relegated to support/archer roles while he rushes headlong into the fray...

Which begs the question- why would you want a sword for him, especially Keldorn's?

I've read that a monk's bare hand combat is awesome, I just thought it might be tough at first without any weaponry and that the Carsomyr (Don't know if thats spelled right) sword is pretty awesome.
I've got a kensai right know at level 16 and he has trouble killing liches and other tough stuff because he isn't proficient at any weaponry at +4. I set him up with +++++ in katana blade which he is really awesome with except for the really tough monsters. I didn't know if the monk would have similar problems with bare handed attacks against liches and such. Can liches detect a monk when he is proficient at stealth and hiding in shadows?

I'm not sure about 2nd edition rules, but I know for a fact that in 3rd edition, a Monk's hands are considered +2, +3, ect. weapons as he progresses in levels.

Without Throne of Bhaal or an experience cap remover, the Monk can only reach level 21, at which his fists are considered +3 weapons. At level 25, his fists are considered +4 weapons.

Most liches and high-level mages cast True Sight, which will dispel any invisibility or illusion including Hide in Shadows. The only way to bypass True Sight is by using the Cloak of Non-Detection, with it you can stay invis (or hidden) indefinitely.

I heard that some class can use Keldorn's stuff.. Hmmm isn't monks restricted to one handers? Any way I think you need indentical stats no more no less.
And Lawful Good..I think...I WILL check on this.
