Zee's actual line was, "I lost two brothers to that ship [the Nebuchadnezzar]," and she fears that Link might be next. While it's reasonable to assume that the two brothers are Tank and Dozer, there might have been a third brother that was not mentioned in Matrix 1, or Zee might not even be related to Tank at all--she could be talking about somebody completely different altogether. Nowhere in Reloaded does anyone say that Tank is dead--I don't think they even mentioned his name. And I thought it odd that he wasn't in Reloaded, so yes, I was keeping an eye out for him.

That being said, however, Tank could conceivably have died during the 6-month window between Matrix and Reloaded, but that hardly seems likely, considering that the Operator is the one member of a crew who's LEAST likely to get killed. He would have had to catch a nasty virus from a dirty keyboard or something.

There was nothing bed about Link's performance, I just personally prefer Tank--he's simply a lot more likeable. Drop Link from Reloaded and write Tank back in, and the only thing you've lost is the Link-Morpheus dialogues about trust. Not exactly a crushing blow to the film. I can easily see Tank coming home after a long sojourn and wanting his puss-heeeey!

He also starred in HBO's "OZ" prison series.

True, but Tank *was* shot with a plasma-type gun by Cypher. Just because it didn't kill him on the spot doesn't mean it didn't kill him after a while. It looked like a big hole in his side to me. He may have died of blood loss, infection, anything. I go with this theory.

Hmm ... Was he the guy in the wheelchair? I can't remember his name. I loved OZ. It was one of the American shows we get here in the UK, and it was shown at 3:45 am. Even at such an unfriendly hour, it had a cult following.

Back on topic, I think Link was a perfectly ghood character. There will always be an element of "The original operator was the best", because there always is. However, the reality of the situation is that they are fighting a war where people get hurt and die. It would have been weird for the crew of the Neb to survive unscathed, so I'm actually quite glad from a sickly-realistic kind of way that a few of the good guys got waxed.

It gives it a feel of realism - after all, in real life, the good guys don't all survive.

Link does a decent job because he doesn't try and emulate Tank - instead, he has his own personality, and he develops it. This kinda stops me looking at him as a 'replacement'. Just a different character doing the same job

So the Wachowski brothers shouldn't have worried about adding maybe another million dollars to their already HUGE production costs. They also should not have been concerned about setting a precedent for every other supporting character in the film to demand more money for the sequal and run the production costs even higher. Don't worry about how much money all those CGI special effects will cost....none of that matters as long as they keep Tank!

Sorry, ZeroAlpha, but "Tank" just didn't have enough leverage or star-power to demand more money. The movie already has two HUGE "marquee names" (Keanu and Fishburne). "Trinity" can rightly claim a larger salary for the second movie and you have several other "supporting actors/actresses" that HAVE to be kept for the second movie (Agent Smith and the Oracle).

Compared to these other characters, Tank is just a minor part - and is NOT necessary to the storyline.

{For what it's worth, I liked Tank better also...but this is Hollywood - and minor characters can NOT demand the kind of money the "big names" are making. It's a shame, because if he had accepted the money offered, he could have been in the two sequals and probably WOULD have added a LOT of "bargaining power" to his resume' for future films}
