Over at the Online Role-Playing forum, most of the roleplaying is based on fantasy.

I'm just wondering if anyone is interested in roleplaying in a different setting/style. Examples I can think of are period drama (swordfighting Chinese-style), classics (say, Jane Austen times) and modern day adventures (Indiana Jones-style).

If there's a demand for it and I think I can roleplay it well enough, I might set up a new thread over at that forum

Period drama could be interesting if done well, but there's a serious lack of material considering most of it is in Chinese. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon could be cool..

Yeah, the intricacy is in the hand and leg kungfu movements, as well as the angles in which the swords are tilted... it's really wonderful if you get to watch those dramas. Besides the swordfighting, they also have inner energies which if properly channelled, result in their ability to deal out magical damage. Either through palms (much like monks) or through pointing fingers (a single ray for each one) at the enemy. All the flurry of well-coordinated actions always keeps me on my toes

Anyway, I am going to test out a modern day adventure over at the Online RPG forum. Wonder if it will sink or swim... ah well, I'll never know unless I try
