Or Britney Spears. (Refer to old topic with the same formula )

Despite the fact that I am not listed amongst GW's buggest fans, I don't think it was really tactful to throw up that sort of joke with that sort of headline on what is largely an American dominated board. I expect you to recieve some angst over it.

Davros walks away muttering "This will all end badly it will".
I agree. I do think that it was funny, but I guess something like that might not have belonged on the boards. Hey, I was born in America and have lived in America all my life, and I am not 100% against everything that George Bush has done, but I just tried to look at it in a joking manner. It's not like it's going to happen actually...
You two are talking about CENCORSHIP, that's the bloody opposite of what our democracy stands upon. You are not seriously thinking that just because most of the people are American then we should not be able to have critics on them, al be it in a joke form?

Once again, freedom of speech, REAL freedom of speech. IMHO, you can say everything what you want, but it is up to yourself to be a good person and shut your mouth when it is really needed.

"Our democracy"? And what democracy would that be?
Freedom of speech is guaranteed in most of the countries IW members live in, but this is a privately owned forum and as such, Ziroc determines which things are off limits to talk about (e.g. warez, porn, etc.).
Of course this was just a joke, and I don't think anyone actually demanded it removed - all Davros suggested that the title be edited, which I can understand: as I said it gave *me* a start, it would not be such a bad thing if it had a (joke) tag, right? Sheesh mate, stop taking yourself so seriously, this has nothing to do with censorship or not being able to be critical of America (hell, have you checked the Current Events forum???) but with what you call being "a good person and shut your mouth when it is really needed", in which shut your mouth means editing the topic title so people'll know it was a joke, nothing more.
IW is Ziroc's home, he owns it, and you're a guest, so all that 'free speech' rhetoric isn't applicable beyond the ToS and common courtesy.

I'm going to change the title of this thread because it severely misleads people as to the topic and while I know the title was done in the spirit of a joke, it is in very poor taste as Davros mentioned, considering the large number of Americans on the board.

The joke is fine, but the title is changing.

Thanks (Mr Kasperov) for the lesson in democracy and freedom of speech - of course in making your post you realise that you are calling for the repression of my opinion this making the arguments you have thrown up very circular indeed.

The joke is not what I suggested issue with - it is the headline. Fortunately no-one seems to have taken major issue with it, and for that I am thankful but not repentant for expressing my thoughts. It could quite easily have blown into touchiness and accusations - such things have been known in the past you know - it would require very little digging to throw up several examples if you want to visit Current Events.

When things start falling under the banners of respect for individuals and others - well then you get people turning to the TOS.

Sorry for opening my mouth to correct any misapprehensions you have - but it was needed .

Edit : Additional - when I started writing this response the last post on this topic was the guy I was responding to. After I hit the post button I noticed that I had support - and I mean MAJOR support . Thank you my beautiful angels (big smooches to Elflet and Cloudlet) for your stirling defence of my efforts at diplomacy.

reminds me of an Italian joke:
Berlusconi, Fini and Bossi are traveling together in a plane.
Suddenly the engines stall and the plane goes down.
Who is saved?
