Dragons. They're challenging, scary and drop good items.

Only been playing AD&D for about a year, so I'm still not to familiar with ALL the monsters. But my favorite mythology monsters have always been chimera, manticore, gargoyles, and centaurs.
I'll add more to the list after looking through the monster books, some more.

EDIT: In the 3rd edition monster manual, I like arrowhalk, couatl, dragonne, and lillends. In monster manual 2, the only ones I like all that much are desmodu and catoblepas.
The pictures of the monsters in the 3rd edition books are drawn much different from the ones in the 2nd edition book.

I'm not sure, I could list a bunch that I find fascinating; the tarrasque just to name one.

Something that I've been thinking about since earlier this morning, are harpies demonic bird/women that lure men with their tantalizing songs (as suggested in ID2), or are they really just hideous creatures with sharp claws, a horrendous face, and a taste for human flesh (from a movie we watched in Latin)..?

I'm want to know how you came to this conclusion. LMAO! I like dragons. They give tough fights, usually drop good items, (except for NWN) give lots of exp,(again except for NWN) and there are good and evil dragons.
