Yep, tis true. I took the road test, did "fine", and now I sit here with a provisional license.

Good on ya! I got mine recently too. My advice: on the first day of school, don't go through a "No Entry" sign the wrong way, with a cop right behind it.

ummm...what's a provisional license?
Does this mean you can go racing on streets like " Too Fast Too Furious " ? |

It means I can only go driving within certain times. From 5am to 9pm I think. When I turn 18, which will be pretty soon, I can go get my after 9 license.

Why not celebrate, have a few drinks and go take a spin! Seriously, don't drink and drive, now go and get yourself a hot car and enjoy!

Congratulations! Have you got a car?
How weird, provisional licence only allowing you to drive from 5am till 9pm! Driving late at night is safer than any time really; no traffic about. I can't think of any reason other than safety that you wouldn't be able to drive at certain times of day - but you'd think they'd ban you from peak hour then! What is the reason for it? Our provisional licences just mean you have to have your licence with you whenever you're driving (open licence you can forget it and go show the police the next day if you get pulled over) and your blood alcohol has to be zero at all times not 0.05.

Congrats Nanobyte!
In Australia your "P's" (whether they are Red or Green) allow you drive at any time of the day or night, but under certain speed limits. IIRC, you can't go over 80km/h if you're on your Red P's and 100km/h on your Green P's. Drive safely. |
