what are some good names for magic spells in a modern setting? or even better, a modern setting with mutants and low-level super powers?

i've got a rework of all the names in frua for a project i started years ago but was never able to bring to fruitition because of the limitations of unlimited adventures.
if i have a list, why am i asking for ideas? let's just say that my list is a little heavy on the word 'psi'.

I think that would depend on the setting. I mean, I know you say modern, but you could have a "army" or "military special operations" setting with demolitions or intellegence as possible "spells". For example, your character could be like Casey Rybek (Steven Segal) and an example of a "spell" could be an aerosol spray can bomb or c4. You could even have something like a "spell" that calls in an airstrike (like on a tank, or overkill on some soldiers). And of course, don't forget your medic (cleric spells). To expand on this idea a bit better, you could have the same demolitions expert who can detect explosive traps and disarm them.

Just some ideas

Have you considered 'kino' spells? I came up with a modern magic system for a version of D+D a few years back, using psionic, kinetic and shamanic magic. Just to give you an idea, kineism works much like psionics, but is the abillity to manipulate energy rather than thoughts. Thus magnetic waves, radioactivity, heat, light and radio signaling are at your disposal... Shamanic magic is anything that cannot be explained on these 'scientific' principles, and is hence deeply distrusted. Hope this gives food for thought, even if it doesn't actually answer the question!
