just that, what weapons work best against them? I don't have a monstrous manual otherwise I'd just consult it. I wanna say it's blunt but I'm not sure.
If there's already a thread on this can someone direct me to it?

IIRC, the best strategy is to treat them like barbarians (sortof) and send your tacks at them...The spells I use a lot in that part of the game are sunfire and fireball...they seem to be very effective against the horrors...i also would say "double-team" the matron mother hook horror, or whatever she's called, because she sure is rough

I was just there(been playing...again) and I really don't find the hook horrors all that bad. Just remember to use splash spells(fireball, sunfire, snilloc's snowball storm, skull trap...) and not to have the weak spellcasters in the back. Fireshields do wonders here, as well as death armor and the like(a cleric with circle of blades is...brutal).

Block the tunnel with tanks, guard your back with a cleric and fireball them to death. Suggestion use summons between the horrors to distract them.
Maybe web will work or some such spell. Never tried it although...

Another way though cheesy is to get everyone in those little rooms then take one (fastest if possible) guy to trigger them and have him run back to the doorway of the little room and cast otilukes resilient sphere on him so he'd be standing in the doorway blocking the path... The hooks will gather outside and you can take them down with area effect spells and/or ranged weapons.
