Does anyone use Windows 2000 for the Black Isle games. I'm pretty sick and tired of Windows 98 crashing at important times.
Does Windows 2000 cause a slow down in performance on Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Planescape or Icewind Dale.
I'm very interested to know what people think of Windows 2000 for gaming in general.

I have always heard that these games were designed for Windows 95, 98, and that there are special problems in 2000. I'll see if I can dig up some actual quotes, in a bit.

I use the operating machine under the rule of Windows 2000, maybe I can help.

Yes, Windwos 2000 has some minor problems with the sound and graphic systems. I would stick with your Windows 98 and get a patch at the following location for this problem. http://www.icewinddale.org . I think that is the site. If it is not, visit the offecal website, you may need to search for it.

Good luck, and Farewell.

I am running IWD under Win2k without any problems. Any game problems I have had, were not related to the OS, and were fixed by the patch (1.06) It runs as fine as any Windows machine can run. Now if only it were compatible with my linux box!

1.06 Patch? But aren't they up to 1.42 now? I have just loaded Windows 2000 and then Icewind Dale, and played for about 10 minutes. The game runs heaps smoother and hasn't crashed yet. I know 10 minutes isn't long, but it's more than it would last in Windows 98.
Please, if anyone else has used W2K for any Black Isle games, do tell.

That is very good to know killermafia! So far, the speed increase has been quite dramatic using Windows 2000. I did try Baldur's Gate though with less success. It seems to crash regularly under W2K.
Has anyone got BG running successfully under W2K?

They just released an official patch for Throne of Bhaal players using Windows 2000.
Obviously, there was something wrong with that game.
It is possible, therefore to experience trouble with other similar games.

I have been using W2K sinve the beginning. I've NEVER had a problem with ANY of the Black Isle games. NOT ONE SINGLE MINOR PROBLEM. I am using the best laptop available to the public to date, but this is about Windows, not the rest of my system. So, I would say to those of you wondering if you should use W2K, "Do it!"...."Is IEEP or IE or NearInfinity or Dalekeeper "officialy" supported by Black Isle?" NO. Is W2K "officialy" supported by Black Isle? NO. Do all these work great? YES
