PickPocketing

Has anyone noticed you can pickpocket people before you do a quest for them and you can get the item they were going to give you when you finished the quest and such.

eg.
you can pickpocket the evil fishermen in the priest of umberlee quest and get the magic weapon and bowl of elemental control then take it to the priest girl and you never even have to kill either of them.
Or
you can pickpocket the dude in sorcerers sundries and get the nymph cloak without having the lock of nymph hair.

I think I remember to have read somewhere that there actually is a guy you can pickpocket twice for the same item. This is because the game is implemented with two instances of that guy. I do not remember the guys name though.

I think it was the +2 ring on Ramazits (spelling?). Once outside the tower and once again at the top of the tower.

Yeah you can pickpocket his ring of protection plus 2 and also his necklace of metaspell influence then kill him at the top of the tower and get the same things again.

It would be interesting if they said, "Here's your rewar- what the? Where's it gone?" instead of just saying they are giving you something and then not give it to them. Although it would be a pain to implement.

Lord Dracon: That sounds like the bug in BGII where you can pickpocket a very powerful monster, kill it and end up with 2 items. The name of the monster and the item are not written because of spoiler.

No. It is a bug in the game. You can get the same item twice. Sorry I forgot to mention that in my last post.

I do not think any of the posters in this tread disagree much with you Jan. My last comment was meant as a joke (I used a

!!!). Whether it is a bug or it was done on purpose (because it was too difficult to implement a better solution (lazy programmers [img]smile.gif[/img] )), I do not know. But it certainly IS a loophole, that you do not want to use if you want to role play your way through the game.
