Larrell not Speaking - Can anybody help?

Hi there,

I have given all four pieces to his assistant, the machine is currently working, but neither of them will talk to me. I am stuck. I have searched around and seen references to cheats to either open up Dorn's Deep, or to edit the script to fix it. I am willing to do either. Please help. I have downloaded the Infinity Explorer, but I don't know what to look for or what to do. Please help.

What version of the game are you playing -- Have you installed the IWD patch or the expansion, Heart of Winter?

I have installed the 1.06 patch.
But NOT Heart of Winter.

Do you have a save prior to giving Larrel's assistant the last piece? I have seen this problem twice before. Once the problem is a corrupted dialogue string with larrel. The other is a global variable problem. Here's what you do:

(1) I will email you a new copy of the dialogue string. Replace it in the OVERRIDE folder of your main icewind dale folder. Try talking to him (larrel) again. (Dialogue file is on the way)

if that doesn;t work, try this:

(2)> The problem is related to a variable. The dialogue is reliant on a certain variable below at (or below) a specific value, however in this game, that variable somehow gets incremented *above* that, breaking the scripts. It seems as though the machine got fixed, then took another two parts. Oddly, this ties in with the two parts left in the inventory.

Anyway, this fix is nice and simple. Enable the cheat console, and
enter the code below exactly as it appears:

GETYOURCHEATON:SetGlobal("ASTROLAB","GLOBAL",4)

The syntax for the cheat codes may be different for you, if that doesn't work try the same command EXCEPT replace GETYOURCHEATON with CHEATERSDOPROSPER:SetGlobal("ASTROLAB","GLOBAL",4)

YYYYEEESSSS!!!!!! Thank you!!!! It worked!!!!! I am SO grateful!!!!!

I don't know who you are, but I am a 36 year old single dad who's been playing through this with my 9-yr old son. He was SO bummed when we were stuck (it was several days) and now we move on!!!! We are thrilled!!! Thanks to you!!! YES!!!
