I loaded up my blade kit bard at day 6(!), to try to pick up Imoen before I outpaced her in experience (it's not really possible to avoid but it can be minimized at least). Anyway, my blade has a pickpocket skill of 130 with the gloves of pickpocketing. I drink a potion of master thievery, head over to Maer's branch guild in the dock district, and pickpocket eighteen +2 maces, as well as any other items I wanted (nymph cloak, ring of protection, rogue stone, 320 +2 bullets). I then walk over to the shadow thieves guild, put 16 of the maces into the inventory of Jaheria and sell them all (you want to sell all at once or she will pay less). I also sell the rogue stone, the sword of chaos, and +3 leather I had pickpocketed from the merchant in Maer's guild. I then proceed to steal the last three items off the black market merchant and sell it back. I do this a few times until I have about 48,000 gp, then head over to Waukeen's Promenade to do some shopping. Well, these potions last a long time... I managed to pickpocket 3 of every spell from the two spell merchants (one for the bard, one for Imoen when I meet her, and one for Aerie). Zero reloads this entire time. I might as well have turned the merchants upside down and shaken all their inventory out of them.

Needless to say, the bard is GOOD. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been using the bard properly...

I've been playing a jester and he's really fun to play. You have to totally change your tactics but more people should try to play him (or her).

Played Bard through BG1 and IWD.
Playing Jester thru now, but Memnoch we're repeating ourselves. On how many threads have we sung the Jesters praise now?

A lot, but then again there's a lot of newbies that come onto this board and posts do freefall very quickly.

I still want to know how the hell you pickpocket a suit of leather armor.

Somehow I dont think the bumping into them and putting the newspaper in their face will work.

I would really suggest in the next game that pickpocket be limited to items small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Oh and they should weigh so little that the owner wont notice them gone.

A bard's guide to how you steal suits of armor:
1) Ask if you can try the suit on.
2) Take the suit of armor to the dressing room.
3) Don the suit.
4) Put your suit of armor over it.
5) Walk out!
