Hey Guys,

I'm going to be purchasing a new gaming PC and am thinking about getting an Alienware PC. Just wanted to see what you all think about the new PC and if there is anything i should be tweaking

These are the Specs that I am thinking about getting

Processor
AMD Athlon™ 64
3500+ Processor

Operating System
Microsoft® Windows®
XP Home Edition

Memory
1GB Dual Channel DDR
PC-3200 SDRAM 400MHz

Hard Drive
160GB Seagate® SATA
with 8MB Cache

Graphics Processor
ATI RADEON™
9600XT 256MB DDR3

Sound Card
Integrated 5.1 Surround
Sound W/Optical Out.

The price is $2,438.99 This includes speakers, keyboard, mouse etc but no monitor as I am getting a 19" flatscreen cheaper than what they can offer.

Do you think this will handle most of the newgames out there? I really want to get into WoW and Guildwars.

Questions, comments ?

Cheers

Yep...in all probability, that thing will be able to handle ESIV when IT comes out. Hosscat system, mate.

That thing look pretty dang dirty! You should have no problems with games for a couple of years at least.

I am green with envy...

(o.k., so that is not really green with envy, but it was the closest that I could find--at least it's green with 'something' )

Although...you'd be better off with a 64 bit OS...maybe...Someone told me the other day that there is a Windows XP 64-bit edition. Is this true?

That's quite nice T-D-C, personally though I would prefer to build my own PC (MUCH cheaper) but that thing looks pretty darn good, in fact, teh only think that looks (slightly) outdated is the graphics card, and it still kicks ass

Oh, and I was never a fan of the home edition of Win XP

That PC looks great! Quite similar to my own, except for thje processor. But I think it's just a tad bit overpriced. I've built my own, and it cost me 1200$ more than a year ago. I've got the same memory, same OS, same HDD and maybe the same MBO but with Barton 2500 w/ Zalman AlCu and Sapphire 9600 XT with 128MB RAM(runs actually faster than the 256 version... atleast it did then). It's a pretty decent comp, but I have to suggest you go and get something SLI compatible. An X600 costs as much as 9600, give or take a dolar. I don't know what MBO you've got, but I think it should be roughly the same or just 50$ more for a SLI compatible 939 board.
Now I don't wanna burst your bubble about the new PC, this one is quite good, but I think you'd go much better buying a SLI-able one and then getting a second GPU later. When Oblivion comes out

T-D-C, the basis of that computer is good, you have a decent processor, capable of overclocking like nothing else (I own one myself which clocks in at 2700mhz (2.2ghz stock)). However your PC seems to fall back on its graphics card. Really, if you are buying a new PC these days and wanting it to last a while, and play the latest games, then you need something a bit meatier. I would recommend a Geforce 6800GT, or an X800XL if you want to go the ATI route. It is worth spending the extra money.

The Hard drive is good; what brand is the memory? Model number etc?
