As a post Script, I would urge you strongly...very strongly to actually snail mail this to him. Email is less likely to actually get looked at since every crazy accross the nation sends email....te time and effort to send real mail seems to get these guys attention a lot more reliably...I know...it got action for me when the IRS and US Navy were trying to fork me.

It is a silly neo-nepotism that must end lest our nation keep spiraling downward in terms of efficiency and responsibility of government. special intrests that really only have limited scope get added to the national buget without reguard to the greater concern of the whole nation and their effects on the total economy. They only increase the size of government and decrease it's efficiency to deal with the issues of running this nation. Abdicating authority and finances to special intrests is irresponsible and completly counter to the ideals of Thomas Jefferson. I live in the 60605 zip code, and am a constituent. I am a laywer in Chicago. I don't expect you to listen. I know you are busy, I know you get lots of mail, and I am mindful that you may well be as owned as most politicians in that useless bureaucratic hell-hole known as D.C. but, at least I'll sleep a little better knowing I tried.

I agree... the lawyer thing will add some credence and credibility. However, by itself, it makes me think of 1-800-CALL-SAM, a roadside accident lawyer in the Detroit area (I think). Basically, by itself it sounds like those people who have to say that they're a doctor, because you might not give them enough respect if you didn't know that.

Instead, I'd try to work it in somewhere else, perhaps with a mention of some legal organizations you may belong to. Along the lines of...

... and while I've seen some interesting approaches to verbal manipulation in my 15 years practicing law in the Chicago area, that email made me stop and think... several times...

IOW, don't just state the fact that you're a lawyer, but use that as a justification for some of your other statements. That will come across more effectively, I believe.

BTW, not knowing the Chicago area well enough... would it be better to say the town you're from, or the ZIP code? IOW, is 60605 as famous in the Chicago area as, say, an Oakland county ZIP code would be in the Detroit area? Around there, it's a sign of prestige, but outside of Michigan, few people probably know about it. Heck, outside Detroit, few people know of it...

I'll mention downtown Chi-town. 60601-60699 is Chicago downtown. The building I work in, for instance, is 60661. It shares that Zip with a couple of other buildings. The Sears tower 2 blocks away has its own zip code.
